About the Role:

Are you a seasoned professional who wants to work from home part time? If so, this role is for you. We have designed this role to be a part-time remote work opportunity that will allow you to tailor your hours based on your needs as long as you can work part of the time during normal working hours. This is a remote and part-time position (20-29 hours/week). 

As our Senior Tax and Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing all our US income tax returns (federal and state), including workpapers, calculating tax provisions in accordance with US GAAPs, maintaining sales and use tax compliance, and working with external subject matter experts (if needed) to ensure Invoca’s compliance with all other state and federal reporting and compliance requirements . 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Invoca’s first in house Tax and Compliance Specialist, help establish in house tax compliance function within Invoca
  • Own preparation of all U.S. tax reports and corresponding apportionment, ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax returns
  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective tax compliance processes to optimize resource utilization and ensure both accurate and promptly filed returns.
  • Complete research to support positions taken in the tax returns and prepare required supporting documentation, including memorandums
  • Coordinate with external tax experts on tax compliance in foreign jurisdictions
  • Monitor impact of changes in tax law on the company’s compliance obligations.
  • Manage tax audits, including responding to requests for information in a timely and accurate manner, preparing responses to proposed adjustments, resolving tax disputes, and bringing audits to efficient and favorable conclusions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to tax notices and correspondence
  • Manage other compliance items such as 
    • Filing of corporate annual reports in Delaware, Illinois, etc.
    • Filing of unclaimed properties and sales tax VDAs
    • Filing of other miscellaneous taxes
  • Keep track of new states with nexus (both economic and physical) for sales, use, and income tax purposes
  • Assist with 401K audit in conjunction with our Payroll Specialist
  • Manage special projects relating to tax reporting and/or compliance responsibilities on an as needed basis

 

Qualifications:

  • Based in the United States
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related required
  • 5+ years of tax experience, including experience preparing federal and state income tax returns independently
  • Public accounting tax experience strongly preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant license required
  • Keen attention to details
  • Fast learner, ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, complete work timely and accurately, and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen sense of ownership - You not only will be responsible for tax and compliance for Invoca, you will help us establish the function from group up
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Process orientation - You not only assume ownership of existing processes but also look for opportunities to improve processes

Salary, Hours, & Benefits:

Part-Time teammates are eligible to begin receiving select benefits on the first day of the month following or coinciding with one month of continuous employment. 

  • Position Base Range - $53.00-71.00/hour, depending on experience
  • Expected hours of work: 20-29 hours per week. We will work with you to come up with a working schedule that works for both you and Invoca.
