Due to the continued growth (in 30+ countries and close to 4,000 employees), we are looking for a Director of Global Payroll  to help us scale our payroll operations. This  role will be critical in executing our company-wide employee growth initiatives as well as providing excellent support to our employee base.

You will get the opportunity to use your expert payroll knowledge  to ensure continuing compliance as a company  and in your day to day collaborations  with Regional HR, Accounting and other departments. This position requires a driven individual with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to embrace and drive change in a fast growing environment. 

This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely along the East Coast.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully own the global payroll operations in our Americas, EMEA and APAC regions while setting up a strategic vision to help us prepare for a 10,000 employee global headcount
  • Manage the relationships and monitor the effectiveness of all global payroll service providers while assessing the need for change when we have outgrown a partnership. 
  • Drive implementation of payroll processes as part of future  international expansion efforts
  • Oversee global payroll processing, including ensuring accurate and efficient process, compliance with domestic and foreign securities regulations and tax requirements
  • Partner with Compensation and  the Stock Administration teams to manage stock-based compensation processing in payroll, including stock option exercises, RSUs and ESPP, to ensure payroll tax compliance
  • When needed develop additional  payroll procedures, controls and ensure streamlined preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll-related payments
  • Scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures
  • Recommend and implement new approaches, policies and procedures that affect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed
  • Partner with MongoDB’s inhouse tax team and external tax consultants  to ensure we remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements to ensure compliance 

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance / Accounting, or related discipline
  • 12+ years of experience in payroll operations, with specific experience in a global, multi-national, publicly-traded company
  • Strong background in international payroll as well as expertise in US federal, state, and local payroll taxation
  • Experience in a high volume company supporting a population of 10k+ employees preferably
  • Experience with processing equity transactions globally (RSUs, ESPP or Stock Options is preferable)
  • Strong project management experience and drive to streamline processes at scale
  • Experience onboarding new payroll vendors and transitioning global payroll to different systems
  • Experience with Google Applications and advance level of proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional business partners, internal/external stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with ADP WFN, ADP Streamline and SuccessFactors (HRIS system) is a plus
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
