BetterUp’s Privacy & Compliance Office is a small but diverse group of privacy and legal professionals passionate about providing transparency and control to our members, and dedicated to providing a world-class privacy experience to both members and employees. Reporting to the Senior Counsel, Privacy, Product & Compliance, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Privacy & Compliance team to lead continuous improvement of compliance and ensuring privacy is well understood and supported by all levels of management. The Privacy & Compliance Office works as a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment where a sense of humor, extreme ownership, and creativity are the cornerstones of daily life.  

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure compliance requirements with a variety of global privacy and financial regulations and standards including SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, PIPEDA, and LGPD
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, documentation, and standards that address global regulatory requirements
  • Stay current with present, and upcoming, domestic and international privacy legislation
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as a member of the data protection team
  • Identify, quantify, track, and lead mitigation of privacy risks
  • Assist with audit efforts related to ISO 27018, 27001, 27701 and various other audits
  • Collaborate with legal teams on legal compliance issues
  • Respond to privacy questions and concerns
  • Assist with Data Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Mapping, Data Subject Requests, and Privacy and Security by Design/Default
  • Respond to privacy related incidents

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • Minimum 3-5 years work in data privacy and protection
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, LGPD, HIPAA, and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Excellent project management skills and an ability to distill complex issues
  • Collaborative and real-world approach to problem solving
  • CIPP-US/E preferred
  • Experience with compliance tools such as OneTrust a plus
