We’re on a quest to empower live communities, so if this sounds good to you, see what we’re up to on LinkedIn and Twitter, get interviewing tips on Instagram, and discover projects we’re solving on our Blog.

About the Role

The research team at Twitch is a dynamic group of mixed-methods researchers. We advocate for a human-centered approach to product design and strategy. We bridge the gap between our users, designers, product managers, marketers, and engineers to build empathy, inform strategy, and identify opportunities to improve the Twitch experience.

As a User Experience Researcher, you will create and execute a mixed-methods research roadmap from beginning to end with support from the Director of UX Research. You will evangelize research best practices (when, where, why, and how we do research) and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists and engineers throughout the product design process. You will report to the Director of UX Research within our Central Research Team.

You can be located in San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA or Seattle, WA.

You Will:

  • Identify high-impact projects, triage requests, and negotiate scope, timing, and deliverables.
  • Design and conduct mixed method studies from end to end: including planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
  • Inform the product design and strategy of Twitch products by translating data into insights that have clear and actionable implications for product development
  • Collaborate with product teams throughout an agile product development process. Coaching them through lightweight, DIY empathy building, heuristics, and research activities when needed.

You Have:

We encourage candidates to apply who have held the responsibilities above, regardless of years of experience or educational credentials. But we roughly expect candidates to have:

  • 2+ years of industry experience using qualitative research methods, such as semi-structured interviews, contextual inquiries, ethnography, usability studies, diary studies, and unmoderated remote studies.
  • Expertise in survey sampling, questionnaire design, and applied statistics (i.e. for surveys, usability benchmark, experimental analysis).
  • Experience managing partner relationships and leading projects through the full research lifecycle.
  • Experience producing impactful, high-quality research that shapes product decisions.

Bonus Points

  • You have experience coaching teams through product design and research best practices.
  • Experience with data manipulation tools and statistical analysis packages (R/Python/Stata).
  • You already know a lot about online communities, online video, video games, or Twitch.
  • You have an advanced degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, HCI, or a related field.

Perks

  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount
  • Monthly Contribution & Discounts for Wellness Related Activities & Programs (e.g., gym memberships, off-site massages)
