What Opentable is looking for in applicants

What we’re looking for

We're looking for a master problem solver with a wide range of experiences in multiple areas of design, including: Brand Identity, Communication Design, Editorial Design, Information Graphics, Environmental Design.

The right person is comfortable managing and operating across the entire design process: research, inspiration gathering, brainstorm, strategy defining, concept development, presentation, refinements and execution.

Reporting to the Design Director for brand design and managing a junior brand designer, the Senior Designer will shape how our brand shows up in the world for both restaurants and diners, across a wide range of things:

  • Significant professional design experience within design studios, creative agencies, or in-house teams
  • Brand identity systems: logos, typography, colour, illustration, photography, video, sound, animation, guidelines
  • Broad brand implementations: graphic design for office environments, trade-shows, consumer events, packaging, exhibitions, handbooks and publications
  • Internal communications: communication design for templates, internal campaigns, gorgeous presentation decks
  • Ad campaigns: large-scale, global, multi-media campaigns
  • Art direction and production design: video and photography, illustration and animation
  • Digital: passionate about end-to-end user experience across multiple digital channels

Your experience

  • You have been in the creative industry for a significant amount of time and have worked on a variety of industries and projects—bonus if in different international markets.
  • You are very comfortable coming up with original concepts, art advising and presenting your ideas to internal customers.
  • You have an exceptional portfolio featuring examples of multi-channel design projects—digital and physical.
  • You have extended experience working with product design teams to bring your unique skills to the product design process.
  • You have experience working on projects with multiple partners internal or external.
  • You love mentoring other designers and fostering great working environments.

Your attitude

  • You have a deep passion for anything food-related and...
  • You bring the heat: you are committed to making a difference and getting stuff done. You love to push the boundaries of how brands show up. You connect the dots between business, organizations, places and find where design can make the biggest impact.
  • You challenge the status quo: you are comfortable working in an ambiguous and dynamic environment. You strive to find the best results. You have an interest in asking thought-provoking questions, speak up for what you believe is right and bring in data to pressure-test your instincts.
  • You team up: You love working with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds to do work that will have real impact for our business and our customers.
