The Director of Evangelism will manage a team of engineers, evangelists, and content creators to guide and grow our wonderful community. The primary directive of this role is to: *Strategize and drive Temporal’s transition from niche backend tool to something that will eventually resonate with every developer (there is 20+ million of them). *Drive the transition from a purely US based advocacy to a diverse team of global advocates *Establish an environment that rewards curiosity, creativity and innovation *Encourage experiments and make it clear that taking risks and learning from mistakes is not only expected but required *Work with documentation, education, marketing and product teams to create a holistic evangelism and awareness plan for the business *Identify new market opportunities based on feedback from users and team members *Establish Temporal advocates as experts and trendsetters in the distributed systems & cloud space This role is part leader, part doer and overall guide-to-all-things for the developer community. You will also be a key enabler for Sales/BD, Engineering, Marketing and Product teams, delivering outstanding content and feedback to drive improvements to developer experience. What you'll do *Lead a team of senior engineers and advocates who are largely responsible for the continued success and adoption of our technology. *Help define and drive high level strategy for advocacy at Temporal. *Set budgeting and priorities for the advocacy team. *Hire and grow new advocacy team members. *Use information, experiments, and customer feedback to drive growth in our product *Champion Temporal to our target community at conferences, meetups, coding boot camps, online forums, Twitter, Stack Overflow, Hacker News, and more. *Nurture relationships with key influencers, foster a healthy technical community, and collect and prioritize product feedback and technical blockers with Product and Engineering teams. *Create and deliver helpful content, tutorials, starter kits, best practices, and provide feedback on Temporal developer documentation as needed. *Design and create samples and reference applications closely matching our target customer use cases. What will help you succeed *Previous experience as a Developer Evangelist/Advocate. *Experience leading or managing remote teams. *Strong organizational mindset with ability to decompose and distribute large pieces of work. *Technical acumen, crisp understanding of distributed systems and ability to write samples and reference applications (Java, Python, GO, others). *Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experienced with public speaking, presentations, podcasts, webinars, training, and blog writing. *Experience growing an open-source community. *Experience working with 3rd party communities, social media and blogging. *Travel may be needed depending on where developer events are held. Bonus *Expertise in one or more adjacent technical domains *Languages: Python, Java, Golang, TypeScript, .Net *Ecosystems: CI/CD, AI/ML, ETL, Finance, etc *Technologies: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Terraform/Ansible/CDK #LI-KB1
