This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely in the North America. 

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and implementation plans to ensure customers have a frictionless horizontal scaling (sharding) experience
  • Assist and teach Sales, Support, Customer Success, and Product Marketing as the subject-matter expert for horizontal scaling
  • Lead the team to the right product decisions via deep engagement with internal stakeholders, customers, prospects, and partners
  • Define personas for different types of customer scaling challenges, explain tradeoffs for addressing each challenge, and prioritize accordingly
  • Collaborate with peers in product management & other disciplines to ensure alignment and common success by making horizontal scalability top of mind for every team.
  • Communicate complex concepts in a manner that is easily understood by multiple audiences
  • Contribute to documentation, blog posts, demos, and marketing materials for new sharding features

 

Requirements

  • You have a passion for solving challenging problems
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical content to diverse non-technical audiences
  • You can advocate the merits of products internally and externally
  • You have the ability to collaborate with people from different parts of the company to ensure that your solutions drive real business impact
  • You are strong technically: you understand how software is built, packaged, deployed and operated
  • You have the ability to prioritize well, manage a portfolio of different-sized bets while balancing short-term goals and long-term vision
  • You have a proven record of successfully building and launching great products
  • You have experience guiding the full product development process: creation, design, execution, quality testing, etc.
  • You have a desire to understand the database market

  • Bonus points: You have significant enterprise product experience
  • Bonus points: You have 4 or more years of experience in product management with technical products
  • Bonus points: You have a credible understanding of the database market
  • Bonus points: You have 2 or more years of experience in distributed systems
