The event content team at MongoDB helps speakers to educate and inspire audiences all over the world through great presentations, demos, and workshops. We drive content selection, organize speaker workshops, define event schedules, and make sure speakers and our audience have a great event experience. You will be a part of a global team currently based in New York and Germany. We encourage and support remote employees and the majority of the broader team works remotely.

This role will be based remotely in North America.

About You

  • You care about event experiences, good talks, great storytelling, and inspiring people
  • You understand developers and their needs
  • You are good at fostering and building relationships both in person and online at scale

The right candidate for this role will have

  • 2+ years experience organizing developer event content 
  • 2+ years speaker management experience for in person and virtual events
  • An understanding of the Developer Community and have experience working with the developer/software engineer persona (from novice to seasoned)
  • A data-driven approach to decision making, and a results-oriented mindset when it comes to project planning and stakeholder management
  • Great project management / program management skills
  • The ability to interact with a number of internal and external stakeholders, with experience in driving accountability and staying on track with deadlines
  • Reporting and analytics skills and experience running retrospective meetings with key stakeholding teamsExperience in organizing content and coordinating speakers for in person and virtual events
  • Empathy for developers, regardless of skill level
  • A data driven approach to decision making
  • Great project management / program management skills
  • Ability to hold stakeholders accountable and meet deadlines

These are nice-to-haves

  • Experience with running surveys and data analytics
  • Already worked with developer communities
  • An existing interest in watching and critiquing conference presentations with an eye for content and presentation design
  • Good messaging and copywriting skills

Role Expectations

  • Source speakers and subject matter experts that align with our content strategy, organizing program committees, and curating a well-balanced event content program
  • Organize speaker workshops, coordinate speaker coaching, and be the point of contact for all questions from internal and external speakers ahead of an event
  • Take a data-driven approach to content planning
  • Optimize (and automate where possible) the event content planning process
  • Develop and execute against timelines, produce key deliverables, and drive post-event reporting to drive success against team and individual goals
  • Help refine and deliver a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive speaker onboarding program
  • Contribute to improvements in internal processes and procedures as our team grows and matures
  • Ability to travel to MongoDB events (approximately 25%), including our annual conference, MongoDB World, and our MongoDB.local events (internationally)

Success Measures

Within 3 months

  • You know and understand the needs of our audience
  • You're familiar with MongoDB's presentation style and message
  • You participate in content curation meetings
  • You answer speaker questions and play an active part in the event planning

Within 6 months

  • You guide several content curation meetings and actively recruit speakers
  • You own one or more content programs
