About the Role

This role will support the evolution of the Live and Work Anywhere team and our workspaces by researching forward-thinking strategies to shape Airbnb’s Workplace landscape and to evolve the employee experience.  A specific focus will be on Workplace tools and technology, including researching, testing, and implementing innovative digital workplace applications and technologies in support of a new flexible way of working keeping in mind the holistic experience of the employee.  This role will also be responsible for  developing qualitative and quantitative employee listening strategies to ensure we are designing and evolving workplace programming in consideration of employee sentiment.  This role will also support other strategic cross-functional projects & initiatives across the Live and Work Anywhere team as needed.

This role is cross-functional in nature and will require a strong partnership across Airbnb’s central function teams, including Workplace Ops, Safety & Security, Talent, BizTech, Mobility, Real Estate, and Environments. The ideal candidate will be able to build strong relationships at all levels of the company, and to interpret the company's priorities and values into actionable solutions that align the workplace environment and work practices with our team’s goals and objectives.

In this role, it is important to have an intermediate level of understanding of various back-end technical requirements to implementing new programs.   It is also important in this role to be able to see the big picture as you will have to envision a long term strategy and define the projects to achieve that strategy from start to finish.  It is critical for this person to be familiar with industry technology trends, how technology works, and to know how our tools will work together to meet the needs of both the internal team and the external experience.

Job Duties

  • Research, test, and implement innovative digital workplace applications and strategies to support future working concepts that will allow us to enhance the employee experience, across offices and remote working environments.  
    • Identify gaps and areas for improvement in existing employee facing tools & technologies and recommend improvements (including ticketing, VMS, space management, etc.)
    • Work closely with the Live & Work Anywhere team for a seamless integration of existing and new workplace tools & technologies to deliver on a more holistic workplace experience, considering the ongoing evolution in how and where we work.
    • Work side by side with BizTech to support the implementation and delivery of any new technologies in a way that is consistent with the BizTech roadmap.
  • Maintain an active awareness of global workplace trends, innovations and opportunities, and regularly report on findings.
    • Lead the collection and regular reporting on benchmarking efforts as it relates to our peer companies and their approach to various office workplace & remote working strategies to ensure we are designing with industry best practices in mind.
  • Develop an employee listening strategy in partnership with Talent Design as it relates to our Workplaces that includes:
    • Qualitative listening on an ongoing basis to ensure we are in tune with our workforce on ever evolving employee sentiment on how we program, design, and deliver on the workplace experience. 
    • Formalizing our approach to annual and ad hoc surveys; leading the analysis and response.  
    • Partnering with the Workplace Ops team to cross compare findings against utilization data.
  • Partner with our Workplace Program & Project Specialists to develop and track metrics to monitor progress, usage, and employee satisfaction of the office experience.
  • Lead or support other ongoing programs and special projects in support of our team’s objectives, such as:
    • Development of change management strategies
    • Project management of various alignment and collaboration improvement needs across the Workplace, Safety & Security, Real Estate, BizTech, and Environments teams
    • Other cross-functional initiatives as they come up

Qualifications

  • 8+ years program or project management experience, ideally in technology
  • Minimum 3 years working in a role with global responsibility and taking a global perspective into account when approaching your work
  • Possesses proven experience in multiple digital workplace technologies; has an intermediate level of understanding of various back-end technical requirements
  • Experience working in large global organizations with complex technical environments.
  • Digital dexterity; able to leverage and quickly reskill on digital technology as it evolves.
  • Proven track record of establishing relationships, influencing and negotiating competing priorities with both internal and external partners
  • Exhibit strong analytical, conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Requires someone with superior written and oral communication skills; including briefing/training skills, and the ability to have executive presence while also being someone that excels at sitting back and listening.
  • Change management experience a plus

The starting base pay for this role is between $150,000 and $185,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
