The Role

TaxBit’s Engineering team is growing exponentially. In order to deliver quality products with high velocity, we need leaders to develop talent, organize teams, evolve processes, and solve challenging technical problems.

Senior engineering managers support multiple teams and deliver and develop both IC and leadership talent. They build and grow empowered teams by balancing autonomy and accountability. They zoom out to plan and drive strategic initiatives, and zoom in to unblock the critical path whether it’s a people, product, or process problem.

Senior engineering managers will build and evolve team structures and processes as TaxBit continues to scale to deliver SaaS solutions to consumer, enterprise, and government verticals. They’ll collaborate with engineering leadership, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand the customer and business needs, lead a culture of customer-focus, and strongly support a bias to ship. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive engineering rhythm across multiple engineering teams
  • Partner with product management and leadership to establish quarterly objectives & key results (OKRs) and maintain customer obsession 
  • Align and reorganize teams to meet changing business needs
  • Regularly communicate accomplishments and risks upward and outward
  • Maintain healthy production systems across teams while embracing a culture of learning 
  • Develop ICs and engineering leaders through upper career stages
  • Seek out top talent and coordinate with partner teams on growth and hiring needs 

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years professional software engineering experience
  • 5+ years as people manager 
  • 2+ years as manager of managers
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience attracting and developing top talent
  • Familiar with modern cloud architecture
  • Familiar with modern devops/SRE systems and processes

Desired Skills

  • 5+ years building SaaS cloud-based products 
  • Experience managing sensitive data and working with security and compliance teams
  • Thrive in early stage and ambiguous environments
