About the team

MongoDB is looking to add our very first Animator to our growing Visual and Brand Design team. As a team, we partner with groups across MongoDB to help produce visually impactful, consistent, and inspiring physical and digital experiences for customers at every touch point.

This role will be responsible for creating eye-catching and effective animations that tell stories, showcase our products, and highlight the MongoDB brand. The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller who can translate our technical product into visuals that are on-brand, easy to digest, and deepens our users and potential customers’ understanding of our offerings. On our team, you will work alongside visual designers, illustrators, brand creative teams, and cross-functional stakeholders delivering a range of animation pieces as we seek to build out our brand in motion.

Qualifications  

  • Portfolio exhibiting thorough grasp of design principles, animation principles, motion theory, typography and visual communication
  • Animate objects in believable and interesting ways that are on-brand
  • Ability to conceive and articulate novel motion ideas both through contemporary references as well as crafting animation in tools such as After Effects, Cinema 4D or equivalent 3D software
  • Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and plugins.
  • Outstanding design skills with the ability to guide, evaluate, and if necessary, redirect creative development
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and adapt quickly and is skilled in creative problem solving in a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience both pitching creative and leading production from concept to delivery
  • Comfortable working closely with illustrations and visual designers for seamless creative workflow and receptive to feedback
  • Ambitious, proactive, conceptual and honest; strong organizational and communication skills

Bonus points for

  • Cinema 4D or equivalent 3D software knowledge 
  • Experience with Lotti / svg / web animation 
  • Understanding of development constraints when applied to motion
  • Drawing skills (specifically thumbnailing and storyboarding) is helpful for planning and communication within our team
