We are looking for a collaborative innovator to partner with business leaders to ensure a smooth compensation process and clear communication around compensation philosophy, objectives and process. As Compensation Business Partner, you will work with leadership and cross-functional partners to design and build innovative, competitive and analytically driven compensation programs aligned with Asana’s compensation philosophy and values. You will consult with People Team stakeholders and managers to drive data-backed decision making for all teams, in all countries Asanas are found.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Compensation, and partner with the Head of Total Rewards to manage executive compensation and equity programs, including serving as a key liaison with the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. This role will also have business partnership responsibilities for the G&A functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Compensation Committee meeting agendas and calendars, and take the lead on developing materials for management and the Compensation Committee, collaborating closely with partners in People, Legal and Finance to design and implement of programs
  • Partner with our external consultants to review compensation programs and address technical issues as they emerge and manage the executive annual compensation planning cycle for cash and equity compensation
  • Educate executives on our executive compensation programs and prepare documentation related to annual and ongoing executive compensation
  • Administer the Board of Directors compensation program, including communicating with Board members regarding their payment elections, and working with payroll and equity to process Outside Director compensation and manage our director’s deferred compensation plan
  • Serve as an advisor to G&A leaders on compensation and leveling decisions, and act as a compensation approver for these teams
  • Manage the quarterly equity grant and authorization process, including preparing grants for approval, monitoring and providing forecasts of equity usage, and providing expertise on equity program design
  • Maintain awareness of the latest trends, market practice, accounting, regulations and competitive intelligence regarding executive compensation
  • Develop process improvements to streamline compensation-related processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to our compensation philosophy, strategy and design, in particular ensuring alignment with Asana’s long-term management philosophy
  • Partner with the legal/equity/finance and tax teams on preparation and maintenance of plan documents, preparing external disclosures, standing up equity programs in new countries, and educating employees about equity
  • Support the mobility team with complex compensation and cross-border equity issues as needed

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of work experience, with at least 5+ years of compensation experience supporting or leading executive compensation
  • Strong executive presence with a desire to engage with C-suite executives and Board members
  • Proactive, strategic thinker supported by strong analytical and project management skills
  • Technical experience with global equity plans and executive compensation regulations
  • Superior problem identification and solving skills with ability to communicate effectively with executive management
  • High ownership of work materials and high detail orientation to ensure complete accuracy and quality of output
  • Must possess organizational, problem-solving skills, and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Process oriented and ability to document processes with the ability to achieve the goals of multiple overlapping workstreams
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • Able to work effectively with other functional areas and understand the operational and cultural issues relevant to achieving superior results
  • Superior Excel/Google Sheets skills
