About This Role

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with over 95 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat you’re an athlete, and Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day!

Strava is hiring a Director of Engineering to build and lead new teams within our Integrity organization. This is an opportunity to build an org that is focused on developing experiences for athletes that put privacy, security, and safety at the forefront. As a Director of Engineering you will be responsible for the engineering execution of Integrity strategy and supporting and developing the engineering managers that lead the teams in your org.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Build and lead multiple teams of server engineers focused on various areas of the Integrity charter space including Privacy, Identity, Content Moderation, and Ops Support and Tools

  • Define, design, and deliver new Integrity capabilities that scalably enable product development teams to efficiently deliver new product features with security, privacy, trust, and safety built-in

  • Grow and nurture a collaborative, cross functional, and high performing culture that prioritizes engineering excellence

  • Work closely with other engineering leaders on company wide initiatives such as the technology vision, hiring, and scaling company processes and best practices

You will be successful here by:

  • Demonstrating empathy for users and their experience while using Strava.

  • Developing and coaching the engineering managers and most senior engineers on the team and supporting their career development.

  • Applying exceptional judgment to challenging situations.

  • Embracing an inclusive and collaborative environment that elevates a diverse set of voices and experiences.

  • Success won't just be getting Integrity teams to deliver features. It is also important that the things Integrity teams deliver enable the broader company to more efficiently develop products with Integrity built-in natively.

We’re excited about you because you:

  • Have extensive experience leading engineering teams to deliver on ambitious goals and have mentored or managed other engineering managers before.

  • Have built an engineering team from the ground up through external hiring and internal recruiting.

  • Have worked on customer-facing applications at scale, ideally in the Integrity space or an adjacent space.

  • Are eager to help drive forward our commitment to becoming an antiracist company.

We'd love to talk to you about the future of Strava’s core technologies and your role in developing it. Please take a look at the links below to learn about the exciting work we are doing.
