About the Role

Twitch's Ad Products Machine Learning team builds advanced machine learning models and scalable infrastructure to address hard problems in the area of ad opportunity identification and optimization. This work is critical to improving the monetization opportunities for our streamers as well as protecting the viewing experience of their communities. We are seeking an Applied Science Manager who has a solid background in applied Machine Learning, deep passion for building data-driven products, and has a proven track record of leading both applied scientists and software engineers to execute complex projects and deliver business impacts. You will work cross-team with product and program leadership, and will see your work used to power the ad experience across Twitch. Your work will be fundamental in helping streamers make a living doing what they love.

You Will:

  • Lead a group of applied scientists and software engineers to deliver machine-learning and AI solutions to production
  • Advance team's engineering craftsmanship and drive continued scientific innovation as a thought leader and practitioner
  • Develop science and engineering roadmap, run Sprint/quarter and annual planning, and foster cross-team collaboration to execute complex projects
  • Perform hands-on data analysis, build machine-learning models, run regular A/B tests, and communicate the impact to senior management
  • Hire and develop top talents, provide technical and career development guidance to both scientists and engineers in the organization

You Have:

  • 5+ years as an Engineering/Science Manager
  • 6+ years of overall technical experience, including deep technical knowledge of data centric production systems or ML/analytics projects
  • Demonstrated team building skills – ability to hire, develop and motivate staff members, and to bring people together
  • Experience delivering systems or products
  • Explain technical concepts to senior leadership and to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage and quantify improvement in the customer experience or the value for our business resulting from research outcomes

Bonus Points

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience of AWS and big data analytics technologies
  • Knowledge of recommendation algorithms and systems

The base pay range for this position in Colorado, Connecticut and Washington is $231,570 - 283,030 yr. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
