As an independent and true leader, you communicate expectations clearly to all team members - soliciting and delivering individual feedback often - and you are a star in stakeholder management.

You are the type of person who has a higher overview but knows what’s happening on the ground. You're not expected to write code on a day-to-day basis. You do however, have a strong technical background and understand the applications and products you lead well enough to contribute to the architecture and product vision. What you’ll do

  • Lead a team of 8+ engineers
  • Build innovative customer-facing products, including launching and supporting in production using DevOps engineering practices.
  • Work on challenging problems involving scalability and performance and enjoy helping your team members thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • As a player/coach you will have a strong aptitude for and love of coding, learning new tech, and mentoring while serving as a technical manager for a squad
  • Collaborate on roadmaps with Product Managers, Principals and Team Leads to ensure the team has clear direction and priorities. Ensure there is a balance between shipping features and building a reliable product.
  • Establish development best practices to ensure the team produces high quality, well architected code.
  • Build high performance, high-velocity squads, measuring and iterating on processes as we grow and evolve as a business.
  • Set the right balance between finding opportunities for the team to learn/improve, and shipping products on time.
  • Set goals and directions for teams and team members, based on top-down goals & objectives and track progress against them.

What you’ll bring

  • 6+ years of hands on software development and system design experience
  • 2+ years experience leading teams of 5-10 engineers as an Engineering Manager in a highly technical and complex environment.
  • Experience building high performance REST APIs in Node.js
  • Experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting scalable applications as micro services in the cloud.
  • The ability to quickly upscale knowledge and learn new technologies, systems, frameworks and APIs
  • You have a proactive attitude, are a team player, who is passionate about building and growing your team through coaching, talent development & performance management
  • You are very competent with Linux and have worked in an AWS environment.
  • A BS and/or an MS in a relevant technical field is preferred.

What You’ll Gain

  • Work from anywhere
  • Generous stock options for all Birds
  • WFH set-up budget
  • State-of-the-art work gear
