About the Role

The API Platform team builds the high-traffic, internet-facing services that power Twitch websites, mobile clients and our large third-party developer community. Our third-party RESTful API is one of the biggest in the industry based on performance, throughput, latency and sheer number of downstream services it powers. Our 3rd party API, lets developers build creative integrations for the broader Twitch community.

We're looking for people with an interest in building and architecting scalable, low latency and fault tolerant APIs . As a software engineer on the API platform team, you will help develop, maintain and innovate around our third-party API experience while working with multiple product teams to deliver great experience and content to our streamers and viewers communities. You'll shape the work of your peers, and play an important role in our engineering team, reporting to our Engineering Manager for API Development.

For this role, we're open to you working from our HQ in San Francisco, CA, as well as our satellite offices in Seattle, WA or Irvine, CA.

You Will:

  • Work effectively with product teams and developer community to build and release new features to empower Twitch.
  • Work on a high throughput, low latency edge service
  • Become familiar with the existing Twitch 3rd party services and AWS technology stack
  • Contribute to architectural, design, and process discussions involving the technological choices involved in building Twitch's third-party API.
  • Enjoy building intuitive APIs for developers
  • You'll identify and uphold engineering best practices.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience developing with static-typed languages. We work mostly in Go, and while experience as a Go developer isn't required, we do believe being good at types is an important qualification.
  • 3+ years work experience developing high throughput, low latency, high availability services.
  • A bar-raising mentality for quality, whether in code, infrastructure, docs, or being an excellent team member.
  • Experience writing high-quality code that's easy to read and understand
