We are looking for a curious and creative intern with an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong attention to detail for our UKI & Northern Europe Communications team based in London.

The Team

The Communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world. Whether it's speaking to media and bloggers, hosts and guests, industry commentators, thought leaders or the wider community, the Communications team is the voice of Airbnb. The Role

This role is a key member of the multi-skilled communications team, helping to coordinate a busy press office and support our goals through media relations and will report to the Communications Lead for Northern Europe. The role will help to drive consumer and corporate public relations activities in UK & Ireland, supporting on campaign development, drafting press materials, liaising with agency partners, handling media inquiries and gathering stories from within our host community and from our platform to generate pitch ideas.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about Airbnb, the sharing economy, and communications. This person will join a very fast-paced environment in one of Airbnb’s most dynamic and high profile markets. This is a paid intern position where the person has the opportunity to develop existing skills in PR, media relations and political communication.

Qualifications

  • Currently studying within undergraduate  level education in a relevant field (communications, Journalism or marketing) or have graduated/graduating within this calendar year.
  • Basic knowledge of the UK media landscape is mandatory; knowledge of these in Ireland is an asset
  • Experience in PR and media relations, e.g. agency or editorial or journalistic experience is desired
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company
  • Experience working on projects in a fast paced environment
  • Maintaining enthusiasm and calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Highly organized and able to stay on top of multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Creative thinker 
  • An eye for detail - with an ability to very quickly get up to speed 
  • Excellent communicator with great interpersonal, writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player in a multi-task work environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast moving and sometimes stressful environment
  • Candidates must speak fluent English. You must submit your application in English.

  • An international outlook and passion for travel

Responsibilities

  • Support with daily research tasks and keeping materials up-to-date, e.g. Airbnb newsroom, media distribution lists and UK twitter
  • Work seamlessly with other team members to support consumer and corporate PR activities and projects
  • Manage and coordinate a busy press office
  • Support press activities, including the drafting of PR materials - press releases, pitches, Q&As, newsroom posts etc
  • Work with the PR agency and provide regular information sharing and guidance
  • Liaise with regional and global members of the Communications team
  • Develop interesting and newsworthy storylines and pitch to media
  • Liaise with UK journalists 
  • Liaise with our host community about media opportunities
  • Act as a key contributor to the success of the Communications team in UKI & Northern Europe
