What you’ll do:

The Governance, Risk, & Compliance (GRC) team enables BetterUp to reliably achieve objectives, address uncertainty, and act with integrity. This is accomplished through the establishment and maintenance of effective oversight and policy management, strategic risk management, and effective compliance program management. In addition to its core activities, the GRC team also supports special projects that aim to support the business in accomplishing strategic objectives from a security and governance aspect. The GRC team also ensures that executive management and other business partners receive the information and insights necessary to make risk-based decisions to continuously improve and mature the information security program. 

As the SOX Compliance Program Manager, you will be responsible for participating in the initiative to establish and support BetterUp’s SOX compliance framework including performing risk assessments, documenting walkthroughs and conducting tests of design and operational effectiveness for key IT systems and databases controls. You will be working closely with business and engineering teams to evaluate new processes, or changes to existing processes for financial and operational risks before product launch, providing recommendations for improvement.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • Experience in audit/attestation, preferably in a Big Four firm or a public company’s internal audit/SOX function or a combination thereof, including IT audit and risk management, compliance, information security, process controls integration, system pre-implementation reviews, and mergers and acquisitions due diligence
  • Knowledge and experience in Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, SOC 1/2 audits and the documentation required to support compliance
  • Familiarity with source code management systems (e.g. Github) and continuous integration processes
  • Ability to partner with business and engineering leaders to identify optimal solutions that resolve business process or technology control gap
  • Highly motivated and proactive with strong project management, organizational and communication skills
  • Exceptional grit and a willingness to work in a fast-paced startup setting.
