We are looking for a consumer insights leader to drive deeper understanding of our brand, our customers and our industry in to order to help drive OpenTable’s brand strategy across both restaurants and diners. You should be passionate about using data to inform marketing decisions - with experience developing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research.

You will be equally comfortable in “scrappy” to highly sophisticated research methodologies - able to understand a unique fast-paced research need and propose and conduct an in-house approach, all the way to assessing external research partners’ methodologies, measurements, and costing, in recommending how OpenTable should think about tackling a research challenge. In addition, you will be able to think deeply about what we are trying to understand and consider the different avenues and data we could use to get closer to concrete answers.

In this role, you will:

  • Work cross functionally across consumer marketing, restaurant marketing, brand, product and data analytics to conduct effective research with our diners and restaurants
  • Provide consumer insights that inform marketing, product, and brand building strategies for the company
  • Responsible for the design, execution and reporting of consumer insights to drive operational and creative strategies
  • Be passionate about data and metrics, from having a deep understanding of what metrics make the most sense and why, to driving understanding and acceptance of key research more broadly
  • Evaluate, onboard and coordinate tools for continual brand monitoring
  • Analyze and package up brand health metrics to share with the company for the use of making strategic investment decisions
  • Integrate and share insights across lines of business to develop recommendations & solutions for key marketing decisions
  • Analyze internal data to recognize trends and that inform insights
  • Launch and lead all aspects of NPS, tracking and reporting results on a quarterly basis
  • Own quarterly diner surveys - including building, launching and analyzing survey results
  • Lead focus groups with restaurant partners to understand difficulties and product needs
  • Stay on top of the latest research trends - always pushing us to learn more about our users!

Please apply if:

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing research (methodologies, techniques), Strategy, or Statistical Analysis or comparable job experience
  • 10+ years work experience, with 5+ years in consumer insights, market research or brand strategy; experience in technology sector a plus
  • Experience in Vendor management and oversight -- clearly define objectives and work with outside vendors
  • Experience running both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience analyzing data and communicating insights
  • Experience in Research design and analysis including writing questionnaires, data analysis, and delivering research findings
  • Familiarity and experience working with third party research tools with experience evaluating and onboarding new research partners
  • Motivated self-starter who can shift between high level strategy to tactical execution
