Communications at Brex
Brex is in the process of building a world-class communications function.  Our charter is twofold:  to advance and differentiate Brex’s reputation in the external market through engagement with media, influencers and the community at large, and to drive compelling internal communications that increase employee engagement and alignment to strategy and culture. 

What you’ll do
Brex is looking for an exceptional external communications professional to drive our PR and industry engagement in the venture-backed community. This director-level role will set the engagement strategy and drive the execution to help advance Brex’s activity and reputation in our most critical customer segment. This role will have a high level of visibility across the company, and will require deep understanding and connection in the venture space, including media, influencers, etc, and will be highly networked across the company.


  • Set the strategy for Brex’s engagement across the venture community, inclusive of media relations, social engagement, influencer relations, and conferences/events
  • Actively track current events in the venture community, and recommend/execute strategies for topical engagement with media and in social
  • Develop and strengthen media and influencer relationships to deepen Brex’s foothold in this critical market
  • Tell compelling creative stories about the greater tech ecosystem to secure a greater share of voice
  • Stay on top of industry trends and plug Brex into relevant stories
  • Work closely with the other leaders in the business across Demand Gen, Channel Sales, Business Development  and Product Marketing


  • 7+ years of experience in corporate communications; with specific focus on public relations and external communications
  • Deep understanding of the venture space, and its ecosystem
  • Worked directly with a founder or executive
  • Experience delivering results with outstanding verbal, written and storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated success in an in-house leadership role 
  • Ability to be creative and think outside the box from a communications perspective with an executive presence that demonstrates good judgment and candor
  • Strong cross-functional partnership and inspirational leadership that will drive collaboration across the company
  • Ability to span from strategy planning through execution
  • Initiative; ability to learn new skills and information quickly, and to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of modern communication tools, and strong PowerPoint/Google Slides skills
