Engineering at Brex

The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for Brex and our customers. We believe that engineers should accelerate the business through technology, and collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish that.

What you’ll do

As a member of the Product Security team, you will play a significant role in shaping the future of security for our customers. You will be building customer-facing security features that will drive direct business impact and shape our long-term technical vision with a high-quality bar. Particular areas of interest include authentication, authorization, and more. In short, your role will be to develop industry leading security features to help protect our customers. 

We’re looking for individuals with a strong background in software engineering and are passionate about securing products. You should be comfortable building and maintaining software services, learning new technologies, and working with other product engineering teams. Most importantly, you should be enthusiastic about working with a variety of backgrounds, roles, and needs. Building world-class financial services requires world-class security.


  • Design and build innovative security solutions that our customers will love to use.
  • Collaborate with experts on other teams including infrastructure and product engineering.
  • Maintain and improve our existing services, adding resiliency where needed.
  • Care about system design and valuing building things correctly, with an understanding of a MVP approach.
  • Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes you will encounter.


  • Familiarity with software engineering development cycles 
  • Experience building and designing scalable backend systems 
  • Experience working with an AWS environment
  • Knowledge of modern authentication/authorization frameworks (FIDO2, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, etc)  
  • Familiarity with backend programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python)
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Bonus points

  • Passion for information security  
  • Experience with graph databases
  • Experience with JavaScript
