About the role:

Do you speak Pantone and see in grids and pixels? Do you have an addiction to fonts,  moodboards, and scrolling through real estate listings in far off places? Would you relish the opportunity to build a disruptor brand and recruit a team of world-class designers, copywriters, producers, photographers, videographers, set designers, and editors? If so, you just might be our person. 

Mynd is looking for a senior creative leader to build and scale our in-house Creative Studio. From ad photoshoots and voice & tone guidelines, to video scripts and Instagram grids, you’ll lead the development and rollout of our refreshed brand across all business lines, markets, and audiences. You should be a seasoned digital designer and brand strategist with strong business instincts and experience using data to make the business case for creative resources. You have a knack for explaining creative concepts to non-creative audiences, and for building memorable stories and visuals that cut through the noise. You have a history of building creative teams, infrastructure, and processes, and driving cross-functional projects through to completion.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing and sitting within the marketing organization, you’ll work at the intersection of the Marketing and Design functions with considerable influence and visibility throughout the company. You’ll have “clients” on the Growth, Marketing, Sales, and Bizdev teams and thought partners on the Design team. This is a remarkable opportunity  for a hands-on, innovative leader to build out a new core function and evolve the creative vision of a Series C company. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a tight-knit team of highly motivated and boundary-pushing creatives, engaging ancillary freelance and agency resources as needed.
  • Together with the VP of Marketing, guide a cross-functional brand committee to refresh our brand identity, develop our brand attributes, and solidify our brand promise. 
  • Run an RFP for a branding agency, and partner with the VP of Marketing, Head of Design (Product), and Head of Product Marketing to select an agency partner.
  • Together with a Creative Operations Manager, build efficient assignment, project management, and review processes for the team, owning end-to-end creative production from brief through final delivery and performance evaluation. 
  • Together with the design team, build out brand guidelines, including brand attributes, tone of voice, logos, color palette, a visual design system, and other creative guidelines. 
  • Create a components library to create creative consistency and speed up output while maintaining quality. 
  • Implement a data-first approach to creative, utilizing data to both inform and evaluate creative, continuously learning and iterating based on performance.
  • Partner with the Growth team on compelling and innovative ad scripts, visuals, test mediums, videos, and images that break through the noise to attract new leads. 
  • Partner with Product Marketing and Growth to build a plan for boosting brand awareness and resonance in new and existing markets across new and existing channels. 
  • Develop tight brand guidelines and train the company on why they exist. Continuously educate the company on what meets or misses our new bar. 
  • Audit our visual ID and tone across channels and touchpoints. Partner with channel owners and stakeholders to uplevel and revise assets. 
  • Together with our product and customer marketers, develop compelling stories about Mynd customers, products, and services that highlight both functional and emotional benefits. 
  • Boost employee morale and the candidate experience by developing iconic swag and recruiting materials.
  • Spearhead the renovation or build out of Mynd offices to bring our refreshed brand to life. 
  • Inject creativity, customer centricity, an iconic voice, and an upleveled aesthetic into all of our materials--real estate investing should be fun!

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of design and creative leadership experience at a top agency or consumer brand, including oversight of both designers and copywriters. 
  • A tight portfolio of creative campaigns and assets that you and your team(s) have built.
  • 5+ years of experience directing the creative development of performance marketing assets for multi-channel campaigns, including social, email, display, web, direct mail, TV, radio, and events. 
  • A pulse on the latest digital and cultural trends, how to optimize creative for each, and how to match each channel to the right mediums, formats, and messages. 
  • Deep knowledge of brand identity development and methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly-matrixed, fast-moving work environment.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and persuasion skills.
  • Passion for real estate, architecture, home renovation, interior design, and/or property management.

This role is based at Mynd’s headquarters in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood of Oakland, California. Remote candidates who can travel occasionally and have a history of managing distributed teams are also encouraged to apply.
