We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader with a proven record of delivering consistently in high growth and high scale environment with exemplary leadership qualities. This leader is expect to play a vital role in supporting high growth business and drive innovation required to design and develop the next generation of highly scalable, modular and extensible Big Data Computation Platform. The platform supports real-time, near real-time and offline analytics and is built to process petabytes of data with stringent SLAs. The Big Data Computation Platform team is responsible for the computation infrastructure using technology stacks such as Spark, Akka, Flink, building high quality software framework using functional programming language such as Scala for the core business data logic layer, and the framework and tools for ensuring data integrity, consistency and overall data quality in all the ETL processing. As an Engineering Director at Conviva Big Data Platform team, you are highly technical and experienced in building solutions using the mature and emerging big data computation technologies. You must set high bar, attract and assemble teams of the best talents, mentor and help the team members grow. You must keep the teams highly motivated and well organized; plan strategically and tactically, and execute with the best engineering practices and disciplines; deliver the big data computation platform and features with high scalability, stability, reliability, resiliency and cost-effectiveness in the production environment with significant business impacts for the years to come. As a technical leader, you are also expected to work across engineering teams and other organizations, executive management team, customers and external partners.

  • Build high quality software framework and tools to ensure data integrity, data consistency and high data quality overall.

  • Build and nurture developer communities across all product engineering teams for using the data logic framework and data quality tools effectively.

  • Develop resource, capacity, execution, platform cost management and risk mitigation plans, addressing immediate and long-term computation needs.

  • Develop and prioritize technology roadmap in close collaboration with technology leaders to deliver product requirements with clear SLAs.

  • Ensure execution of roadmap in a timely fashion with optimal quality and fiscal responsibilities.

  • Build, communicate and execute Big Data Computation Platform 2SSR plans (Scalability, Stability, Reliability and Resiliency) to stay ahead of the explosive traffic growth and computation needs with stringent SLAs.

  • Lead conflict resolution, incident resolution management, and prioritization of CCB (Change Control Board requests).

  • Lead creation of written incident reports, success stories and communicate to internal and external audience, as needed, in a timely fashion.

  • Lead data-driven decision-making-process - define KPIs and metrics to measure Big Data Computation Platform performance, team performance and evolve metrics on an on-going basis.

What you bring to the role:

  • BS in CS or equivalent, advanced degrees preferred.

  • 8+ years of software engineering with 5+ years of Big Data Computation experience. 

  • Proven track records of leading high-performance teams with timely and high-quality deliveries.

  • Proven record of developing and commercially deploying highly scalable computation platforms leveraging different big data computation technologies.

  • Experience with big data computation technologies (such as Spark, Flink, Akka), Messaging layers (such as Kafka and Kinesis), and Cloud and container-based deployments (such as Docker and Kubernetes).

  • Experience of working in a complex, service-oriented software development environment; experience with building large-scale micro services preferred.

  • Ability to work with ambiguity and operationalize emerging technologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Customer Obsession, Proactive and out-of-box thinking, exemplary leadership skills to inspire the team and drive innovation at the grass-root level.
