The position of Associate Taxonomist & Tagging Specialist is a part of the rapidly growing Picsart Content Strategy organization.  You will play a key role in advancing and unifying our taxonomies by helping build the structure which will power Picsart discoverability.


  • Collaborate with Senior Content Strategist & Taxonomist on overall taxonomy and ontology design and implementation
  • Add taxonomy concepts using a taxonomy management system, including researching or linking definitions and managing term relationships - synonymous, broad, narrow and related
  • Create, maintain and update taxonomy governance documentation
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally across Content, Research, Marketing and Product to define and execute on taxonomy use cases
  • Own segments of the taxonomy and related ad-hoc project deliverables
  • Serve as point person for tagging taxonomy integration with CMS and Content Operations teams
  • Promote taxonomy across the organization



  • Degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in taxonomy and/or ontology development
  • Experience using taxonomy management systems like Pool Party and familiarity with RDF, OWL, SKOS
  • Understanding of taxonomy’s relationship to search and discovery
  • Ability to divine strategic planning based on internal/external research and analytics
  • Experience working with product and engineering teams
  • Ability to clearly articulate the benefits of taxonomy to audiences of different knowledge levels and backgrounds
  • Self directed, able to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently
  • 5+ years experience in information organization and strategy, with 1+ years with a creative content or media/technology focus
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to quickly get up-to-speed quickly and thrive in a fun and fast-paced global environment
