About the role

Robinhood is looking for a behavioral engineer to become a member of the Trust Engineering Team. The Trust Engineering Team works with teams across Robinhood to ensure our products and services protect user security and privacy. This role will ensure that security and privacy are part of Robinhood’s DNA, baking in positive habits and awareness in all areas of the company. You will be customer focused and reduce friction for users in utilizing security and privacy features and ensure they get the timely education to protect themselves, their data, and their money. Lastly, you will build our external brand and make Robinhood synonymous with security and privacy and strengthen our relationships with these communities. 

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Develop strategies, programs, systems and tools that enhance our approach in keeping our users and employees safe and secure
  • Pioneer and own our employee anti-harassment program
  • Create risk/behavior models: how do we tie our biggest risks back to behavior? How do we change those behaviors in the short and long term? Socialize critical metrics for all areas of accountability? 
  • Get creative: what can we be measuring that we're not? What other ways can we engage our users and employees? 
  • Work with our cross-functional partners in Communications, Design, Compliance, Product, CXE, Marketing, Legal, Engineering, and Physical Security 
  • Stay up to date on the direction of emerging security and privacy issues  
  • Initiate, plan, design, and execute on security and privacy awareness content campaigns for internal and external audiences 
  • Apply motivation theory to behavior modification — assign proper rewards to corresponding good behaviors and know how to encourage continuous engagement and improvement 
  • Develop or modify awareness plans for different cultures, nationalities, and languages 
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities to strengthen our brand and connections to community 
  • Develop and facilitate training courses for company-wide training 
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate role/responsibility focused learning 
  • Assist in attack simulation planning and execution, including identifying weaknesses, crafting lures, prioritizing attacks, and understanding and communicating results while maintaining trust 

Some things we consider critical for this role:

  • A solid foundation in information security, privacy, and/or behavioral science
  • BS in computer science, anthropology, sociology, marketing, a related technical/social science field, or equivalent experience
  • International experience a plus
  • A passion for Robinhood and the products we produce
  • Program management experience; the ability to plan, manage, and maintain an organization-wide program over the longer term
  • Practical knowledge of different message distribution techniques to ensure end user communities understand and continually apply the required behavioral change necessary to reduce human risk
  • Basic threat modeling skills; at a minimum, a basic understanding of the different concepts of information security and data privacy
