The Revenue team is an extremely visible, high-performing team and we are ultimately responsible for accurate financial reporting of revenue. This includes managing the monthly close, contract negotiation and determining appropriate accounting treatment for new product offerings. Additionally, this team is responsible for designing and maintaining controls over reporting of revenue and assisting in quarterly forecasting activities for revenue and billings.

We're looking for a high energy, hands-on individual to join the Revenue team as a Revenue Operations Analyst. This person will assist with all revenue operations processes; including contract review, booking entries to the general ledger, reviewing transactions in our ERP system for completeness and accuracy, and revenue and deferred revenue account reconciliations. This role will report directly to the Revenue Senior Manager. 

This role is remote optional until April 4, 2022, we are looking to speak to candidates who plan to be available in Palo Alto for when we introduce our hybrid model.

About the role

  • Participate in routine month end close activities including various reconciliations and analyses 
  • Analyze sales transactions within the Company’s ERP system to ensure accuracy of data and integrity of revenue schedules, inclusive of revenue allocations 
  • Review and assess different revenue streams for appropriate revenue treatments
  • Perform linkage analyses to assess the need for combining contracts pursuant to ASC 606
  • Periodically validate Sales Reserve calculations
  • Validate completeness and accuracy of usage and professional services data for revenue recognition
  • Calculate revenue from online credit card transactions 
  • Prepare write-ups for contract review, inclusive of reviewing contracts, identifying non-standard terms, and concluding on accounting treatments
  • Maintain deferred revenue and contract assets schedule
  • Prepare executive-level analytics for various internal and external presentations (e.g. CFO meeting, AC meeting)
  • Perform and assist in the performance of technical accounting research, collaborating with internal business partners and suggesting strategies under US GAAP for structuring complex transactions
  • Assist in the creation, refinement, and ongoing maintenance of process and controls documentation around internal controls over financial reporting
  • Work cross-functionally with key internal business partners, such as Legal, FP&A and Deal Desk to assist in the ongoing evaluation of systems, processes and controls
  • Assist in other ad hoc project work as required

About you 

  • 3+ years progressive work experience in a similar role - required 
  • Previous experience in technology industry - preferred
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606
  • Solid revenue accounting, reconciliation and accounting process knowledge
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, previous Netsuite and Salesforce experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, research, problem solving and evaluative thinking skills
  • Acute attention to detail and well developed organization and time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, specifically the ability to articulate issues and present findings and recommendations in a clear and summarized manner
  • Must have a mind for financial and business processes and possess a commitment to process improvement
  • Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment, and align well with MongoDB’s core values

What success looks like

  • A successful candidate must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast moving environment as well as have experience and a strong interest in operational revenue processes
  • In 30 days, a successful candidate will have gotten familiar with our systems and our product offerings. In 2 months, you’ll have gotten familiar with the close tasks assigned to you. In 3 months, you’ll have established relationships with key business partners such as Deal Desk, the Professional Services organization, Legal, Business Systems, and Billing
