We are looking for a highly motivated, driven individual to join the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team at BetterUp. The person in this role will support many externally facing functions of the security and compliance program, with the dual goal of executing existing processes and improving them or suggesting new ones over time. You will be interfacing regularly with a diverse group of cross-functional partners including Product, Legal, Privacy, Human Resources, and Engineering, with a focus on customer success. This role requires strong communications and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, a curious nature, and a fundamental desire to help. A successful hire will be expected to grow their duties in both extent and scope, offer process improvement suggestions, and eventually expand into additional areas such as audit and governance. You’d do all of this while contributing to our vibrant, diverse culture and playing a large part in our mission to make positive change in the world, and transform how people think and live.

You will be reporting to and working closely with the Sr Manager of Governance, Risk, & Compliance.

What you’ll do:

  • Support sales operations through our customer security validation process, via processes such as answering customer questionnaires, managing collateral, and maintaining a critical knowledge base
  • Support an internal security awareness program, such as by ensuring that it is sufficiently utilized by the workforce
  • Ensure that multiple internal processes stay on track, such as vendor risk management and audit report requisitions
  • Support internal security audit processes, such as via evidence collection
  • Use, and ultimately become owner of, multiple tools designed to facilitate third party (customer, partner, vendor) security and compliance validation

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally with a demonstrated capacity for critical thinking and problem analysis skills; a STEM degree with a Philosophy minor would be a good example of such capacity
  • Working knowledge of modern technology environments. You need to know how to use a Mac, work with cloud-based services (e.g. Gmail/Google Suite, Slack), and good spreadsheet (e.g. Excel/Google Sheet) and slideshow (e.g. Powerpoint/Google Slides) skills.
  • Be interested in security and compliance as a field, and curious about risk, governance, and audit
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong team-working and collaboration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Process orientation and strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work alone, in a group, and with guidance to make decisions, in a fast-paced environment, and with a desire to grow

Benefits:

At BetterUp, we are committed to living out our mission every day and that starts with providing benefits that allow our employees to care for themselves, support their families, and give back to their community.

  • Access to BetterUp coaching; one for you and one for a friend or family member
  • A competitive compensation plan with opportunity for advancement
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Per year:
  • Year-round charitable contribution of your choice on behalf of BetterUp
  • 401(k) self contribution

We are dedicated to building diverse teams that fuel an authentic workplace and sense of belonging for each and every employee. We know applying for a job can be intimidating, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we encourage everyone interested in joining us to apply.
