We’re looking for a creative, curious, and collaborative person to prioritize, streamline and execute on the evaluative/usability portion of the Experience Research team’s work. You have experience and a passion for collaborating with and coaching Product, Design, and Engineering partners to craft and execute research plans while balancing rigor and experimentation, and an affinity for Research Operations to inform how we evolve and optimize our self serve research program. You are excited by the prospect of mentoring an entry level researcher to grow their foundational knowledge and to support you. Your role will work closely with partners across product areas to facilitate research that drives product decisions and is informed by ongoing accessibility and usability research. While the focus is on evaluative research, the ideal candidate will apply a strategic lens across initiatives.

What you’ll achieve

  • Drive anywhere from 3-6 evaluative research initiatives forward at a time at varying stages of the process with agility 
  • Ownership and prioritization of evaluative/usability research requests from research planning and execution to analysis and socialization, this includes comfort with saying no
  • Build relationships with Product, Design, and Engineering by gaining a deep understanding of their goals and coaching them on best practices 
  • Coach partners at varying levels of skill through the process ex. writing clear research objectives, choosing the right participants, crafting a strong deliverable so they gain the confidence to lead their own evaluative research with little oversight 
  • Help partners see research as a shared responsibility and understand the value it adds to their roles
  • Ensure quality outcomes by monitoring results for partners with less research experience 
  • Collaborate with the Experience Research team to share your insights and connect dots to ensure that we ship meaningful customer experiences that achieve business goals. Especially, partner closely with Accessibility and Usability Researchers to ensure their insights inform your research plans.
  • Recommend and enact improvements to the team’s process, tools, and communications
  • Partner with UXR Ops to increase adoption of our self serve research program that will support Product, Design, and Engineering to lead evaluative research
  • Mentor an entry level researcher to build their foundational knowledge of the research discipline and to support your workload

About you

  • 4+ years of experience practicing UX Research for digital products
  • Experience with evaluative research methods, especially usability and concept testing
  • Know how to make quant and qual work together
  • Apply frameworks and model-thinking
  • Able to distill research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations, especially in writing
  • Quickly build trust and rapport with stakeholders 
  • Foundational knowledge of information architecture, design principles and content strategy for both web and mobile
  • Experience coaching Product and Design partners 
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at various stages in the research cycle
  • Skilled presenter and persuasive communicator
  • Experience with, Asana, and ethnio is a plus
