As a Senior Technical Accountant on the Finance team, you will be the lead for technical accounting research related to new business initiatives explored by our game teams as well as updated and proposed accounting standards.  You will also play a critical role in all aspects of accounting operations and help implement scalable systems and efficient processes.  You should be a team player and have an excellent ability to prioritize, all while helping your teammates develop and grow at Pocket Gems.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the technical accounting lead on projects such as new products and new accounting guidance.  Prepare technical memos documenting the company’s position and obtain buy in from external auditors
  • Work cross functionally with game teams to drive new revenue streams by developing the accounting processes needed to support these initiatives 
  • Partner with various functions to create and maintain the information flows needed for cost reporting and help them understand relevant accounting guidance to comply with US GAAP
  • Own the preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting models as a leader in the monthly close process
  • Manage external auditors in regards to Pocket Gems’ accounting treatments and policies
  • Develop expertise with our Intacct GL system and design and implement new tools that meet Pocket Gems’ evolving business model
  • Review complex contracts to ensure compliance with US GAAP,  including but not limited to embedded leases and contingencies
  • Help supervise more junior teammates and ramp them up on new responsibilities
  • Ad hoc analyses and projects as needed 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 4 - 6 years of total accounting experience, with increasing levels of responsibilities
  • Active CPA license
  • A hands-on approach and strong attention to details
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting concepts
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel - you should enjoy spreadsheets
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment - we’re a startup and are continuing to grow; this requires strong multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to quickly switch from one project to the next
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Extra Gems For:

  • Interest in mobile gaming
  • Masters degree in Accounting
  • Big 4 or other public accounting experience
