LiveRamp is looking for a Tech Lead Manager to help build our API Enablement team, one of the most impactful teams within the company. As a Tech Lead Manager you are responsible for providing the technical vision that would set the team up for success. You are responsible for making your developers successful by setting context, resolving blockers, removing distractions, instituting smart processes, and recruiting new members for the team. You are also responsible for providing high quality code contributions for the team.

The  API Enablement team is here to make LiveRamp's API vision a reality. The team owns the standardization of API development across all the engineering teams. This standardization in API design makes APIs feel familiar and it minimizes the learning curve for developers to start building APIs. By providing consistent tooling to build APIs across the entire organization, this team ensures the smoothest possible experience for developers using the platform. The team is going to be the propeller for the company's vision of platformization. You will have a unique experience working in a startup-like environment within an established company. 

You will:

  • Lead a distributed team that consists of supportive and passionate software engineers.
  • Architect and lead large cross-team engineering projects through the entire software development life cycle.  
  • Ensure operational excellence and empower the organization to achieve a high level of technical productivity, reliability, and simplicity.
  • Design and build core tools and services that are needed to standardize and expedite the entire API development lifecycle for all the engineering teams across LiveRamp.
  • Have an impact across the entire product and engineer org by leading cross-team technical discussions, evangelizing best practices, and mentoring engineers and engineering teams.
  • Bring a wealth of best practices from past experiences to the team.
  • Help recruit the best engineers to join the team to build great products together. 

Your team will: 

  • Design and build core tools and services that are needed to standardize and expedite the entire API development lifecycle for all the engineering teams across LiveRamp.
  • Build frameworks that could be used to cut down the API development lifecycle across all the engineering teams. 
  • Provide the engineering teams with the tools needed to develop high performance APIs using a spec-based approach!
  • Standardize the API strategy across the teams and provide the tools that will help them in building API Services.
  • Responsible for enabling our Platformization strategy in the most efficient way possible.

About you: 

  • 5+ years of experience leading teams designing and building scalable services, APIs, and infrastructures. 2+ years of experience in engineering management positions. 
  • Have experience driving design discussions, performing code reviews and providing critical suggestions for fixes and improvements.
  • Familiar with large distributed systems and performance optimization of complex enterprise systems.
  • Thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility, and you see challenges as opportunities for growth.
  • Are excited about collaborating with teammates across LiveRamp.
  • A polyglot with an inclination to learn new languages and technologies quickly.
  • People management skills, experience in mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Experience building and optimizing tools, architectures and standards.
  • Experienced with multiple microservice frameworks (SpringBoot , Rails etc.,) 
  • Experience leading and delivering large scale, cross-team, multi-functional projects 
  • Experience with GCP or another cloud provider (AWS, Azure, ...).
  • Type S(tartup) personality: smart, ethical, friendly, hard-working and proactive.

Bonus Points: 

  • Contributions to open source projects.
  • Strong experience programming in Java.
  • Familiarity with Typescript and Ruby. 
  • Experience working on a distributed team.
