The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are exciting, highly active markets for Strava. As the first marketing hire in the region, this is a unique opportunity to own how we thoughtfully expand brand reach, deepen brand connection and love with the athlete community and reinforce the value of Strava’s subscription to athletes across Benelux.

Strava’s brand and community of athletes is a superstrength and drives much of the word of mouth growth we enjoy. As the Senior Country Manager for the Benelux region, you will primarily be tasked with engaging the existing Strava community with a view of driving positive word of mouth, sustained positive engagement and subscription consideration. Through compelling, community-first brand initiatives and campaigns, you will entertain and create athlete value for our community of 5 million athletes across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

You will have the opportunity to grow a team and collaborate with strong cross-functional partners in Europe and globally across Country Marketing, Communications, Product Marketing and Partnerships.


You're excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Provide strategic input into global brand marketing moments, ensuring market resonance and impact across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

  • Use your local and share brand marketing nous expertise to develop, execute and measure local responses to Tier 1 global brand and product moments.

  • Plan and execute local marketing efforts for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, focusing on building the brand and reinforcing subscription value through a community-first approach.

  • Work closely with the European Growth Team to conceive and support strategic marketing experiments designed to unlock new engagement and subscription growth opportunities.

  • Work alongside the Director of European Communications and local external press agency to develop and support a communication plan in line with our European and global strategy.

  • Be the official voice for Strava for the Benelux region, representing Strava in the community and across media interviews.

  • Be the line manager to the Benelux Community Associate and oversee their delivery of the community program (a role you will hire for once on the team)

  • Work in unison with the Strava Business team to support partnership opportunities laddering up to athlete value.

  • Team up with the Central Brand, Product Marketing and Product teams at Strava, they’re fired up and ready to help you succeed in your market.

  • Communicate local preferences back to the Central team at Strava. Help them further enhance the product to deliver the best experience possible to athletes in your market.

  • Join a strong team of Country Marketers where our culture is all about camaraderie and support, you will play a key role further enriching this culture.


We're excited about you because:

  • You are an experienced brand marketer. You’ll have experience in sequencing, crafting and delivering complex, multi-channel marketing campaigns and programs.

  • You have a strong appreciation for brand marketing and a gut instinct for what will resonate in your market. You are eager to learn the Strava brand inside and out so that you can make decisions that fit Strava and appeal to locals at the same time.

  • You have outstanding athlete empathy, you know what makes them tick and can produce work they’ll get excited about -- even evangelise.

  • You understand and are experienced in firing up digital communities and know which levers to pull.

  • You are a strategic, objective thinker with the ability to prioritise work based on ROI and impact on company goals

  • You are incredibly resourceful and independent. You can make things happen and have the ability to bring cross-functional partners along with your ideas, across Europe and Centrally.

  • You have amazing people skills. You can identify, charm and rally the support of peers, community members and partners


Specific Requirements:

  • 7+ years of brand marketing experience, either in an agency or client-side.

  • Strong digital/mobile and subscription marketing background is a plus.

  • Passion for Strava. Your friends may be tired of hearing you talk about it.

  • Passion for sport and athletics, an understanding of endurance athletes.

  • Fluency in English

  • Willing to travel to the US or other markets for periods of up to one to two weeks at a time.
