About the team:

The Identity Platform team is on a mission to provide access to the Robinhood platform for all eligible users by building a world class identity verification program and also to protect and manage our customers’ personal data. The team consists of KYC backend and web engineers that build backend services and internal UIs for our operations teams.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

Our universal identity service is the source of truth of identifying data and preferences for our customers. This platform is responsible for keeping the user’s private information secure while providing strict and granular access control over the user data for other services to consume. It also powers the approval flows for Robinhood’s core products such as the brokerage account. As a result this platform houses many of our core integrations with vendors that help us verify a customer’s identity (CIP), vendors that help us reduce our risk in approving ineligible customers, and vendors that help us verify user documentation.

About you:

  • You are a highly competent software engineer and able to contribute technical expertise and guidance to your team.
  • You have prior experience working in the identity or fraud spaces and understand the nuances of identity verification and KYC solution.
  • You are a strong backend engineer and have experience architecting and building scalable and performant systems.
  • You can move from ideation to design and help translate abstract requirements into concrete product design while getting a buy in from the stakeholders.
  • You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are able to weigh several and often conflicting constraints and make rapid choices in a fast-moving, growing company.
  • You can mentor and lead the team and junior engineers into executing, developing new skills and advancing in their careers.

Bonus points:

  • You have prior experience working with CIP systems.
  • You may have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.

Technologies we use:

  • You are well versed with using various backend tools and technologies and have mastery in using at least one major programming language. Experience in Python, Django, Postgres, Kafka, Redis, AWS, and Kubernetes is a plus.

We’re looking for more growth-minded and collaborative people to be a part of our journey in democratizing finance for all. If you’re ready to give 100% in helping us achieve our mission—we’d love to have you apply even if you feel unsure about whether you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Robinhood, we're looking for people invigorated by our mission, values, and drive to change the world, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.

Robinhood promotes diversity and provides equal opportunity for all applicants and employees. We are dedicated to building a company that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We believe that the more inclusive we are, the better our work (and work environment) will be for everyone. Additionally, Robinhood provides reasonable accommodations for candidates on request and respects applicants' privacy rights. To review Robinhood's Privacy Policy please visit

Robinhood's benefits include generous time off, 401(k) participation with employer match, comprehensive health coverage, a health savings account (HSA), wellness benefits, backup childcare and education stipends (all benefits are subject to applicable taxes and based on eligibility).
